The current trend in small businesses is for companies to reduce their printing and distribution costs by going with oversized, custom marketing postcards, used as direct mail postcards rather than printing full brochures.
These business postcards serve as a ‘display ad’ for your business, give an overview of your services, message, or offering, and drive clients to your website for more detailed information.
These full color postcards can be handed to clients, mailed in an envelope with other information, or used as stand-alone direct mail post cards.
So they are flexible, affordable, and when used in combination with a website can replace several print pieces for your company.
Printed postcards come in many standard sizes (4" x 6", 5" x 7", 6" x 9", 6" x 11", 9" x 12" to name a few), or Colorado postcard designer Jon Camrud can create customized postcard sizes for you.
The most effective cards are full color, and I find that the oversized postcards have far more impact than the smaller ones (exponentially better results).
Postage varies by size, so don’t assume that all postcards can be mailed for ‘postcard’ rates’. Once you go above 4.25" x 6", you will be paying first class letter postage. The good news is, once you cross that barrier you can go all the way to 6" x 11" postcards without incurring additional postage fees.
You should also consider internet advertising as an effective alternative to a postcard campaign.
I design postcards for all industries and needs, including ‘save the date postcards’, photo postcards, personalized postcards, moving announcement postcards, realtor postcards, and any other use you can think of!
I offer design and printing services for your postcard campaign. We recommend Colorado Data Mail for your mailing service. You may contact them directly and tell them you are working with me.
I also offer advice on mailing out cards vs alternatives. This includes number to print, how often to send, and the send timing patterns.
I can also advise if postcards are right for your goals; for many businesses it is more effective and/or flexible to use PPC Advertising instead of postcard printing.
Jon Camrud is a custom postcard designer located in Colorado, however I design for businesses in any location across Colorado, or the US.
